Security and privacy

Atlas PDF is designed around local document processing. Online services are used for accounts, licensing, updates, optional AI features and signature requests.

Document processing

  • PDFs are opened locally in the desktop app.
  • Document content is not sent to Atlas servers by default.
  • Signature requests are an intentional online workflow where the document is made available for signing.

Accounts and licensing

  • Accounts use tokens for login and device activation.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe; card details are not stored by Atlas.
  • Device limits are enforced through license checks.

AI and sensitive data

  • AI features are optional and depend on the selected plan.
  • Users intentionally start AI actions before document text is used.
  • Organizations can align AI policy before rollout.

Installer and updates

Windows builds are signed and published through the Atlas update infrastructure. The download page shows the latest release information when it is available through the update API.
